Who We Are

Roots Spirit Kurdistan is a non-profit, grassroots environmental movement founded by a group of Kurdish refugees based in Stockholm, Sweden. Driven by a deep love for our homeland and a commitment to its ecological future, we are building a united, volunteer-driven network dedicated to reviving the natural heritage of Kurdistan.

Our Vision & Mission

For generations, our landscapes have suffered severe ecological degradation:

• Desertification & Climate Impact: Combatting rapid aridification across the region.

• War & Wildfires: Healing the scars left by military conflicts and recurring forest fires.

• Historical Deforestation: Restoring the vast woodlands destroyed by centuries of state-incentivized charcoal production dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

We believe that the people of Kurdistan already possess the awareness, cultural connection, and love for their land. What has been missing is a collective, organized, and powerful call to action.

Roots Spirit Kurdistan exists to be that call.

What We Do

Our platform is a bridge uniting two vital forces:

1. Donors: People willing to fund saplings, resources, and ecological restoration.

2. Volunteers: Dedicated individuals on the ground ready to plant, nurture, and protect our future forests.

This website is designed to build a powerful global database of changemakers. By bringing together diaspora communities and local residents, we are preparing the groundwork for massive, coordinated reforestation campaigns across Kurdistan.
