Roots Spirit Kurdistan is an environmental and afforestation initiative launched to protect our homeland's nature, develop sustainable solutions against the threat of desertification, and turn the dream of a green future into reality for generations to come.
Operating under rootsspiritkurdistan.com, this civil movement brings together a deep-rooted connection to nature and community solidarity to create a tangible, lasting impact on our landscapes.
Our Vision & Purpose
Our primary goal is to combat the climate crisis and the risk of desertification by reforesting vulnerable lands and restoring ecological balance. Staying true to the rich biodiversity of Kurdistan, we bring region-native saplings—such as oak, thuja (arborvitae), plane trees, olive, citrus, hawthorn, and pistachio—into the soil.
We pursue this long-term mission through two core strategic methods:

Fieldwork via Volunteer Teams: We organize collective sapling planting events with our dedicated volunteer teams in strategically designated areas.

Growing Together with Our People: Through Sapling Distribution Points to be established across various regions of Kurdistan, we provide these saplings to the local public free of charge. This enables anyone to easily contribute to nature by planting a tree in a location of their own choice.
